The Master of Public Health Extension offers a comprehensive introduction to public health principles and practices. This extended program allows you to deepen your knowledge by selecting specialisations or elective subjects that align with your specific career goals. You will study four core public health subjects and then have the flexibility to focus on areas such as social systems, big data and decision science, Indigenous health, public health practice, public health research, or climate and environmental health. Specialisation is optional, and you can choose to complete additional electives to further tailor your studies.

The Master of Public Health Extension includes four foundational core subjects in public health. Students can then choose to specialise in one or more of the following areas or select electives:

Entry requirements
Bachelor's degree in any disciplineMinimum average mark of 50%
Public Health Research SpecialisationMinimum WAM of 75% in postgraduate coursework or undergraduate degree.
PGPH940 Public Health Practice subjectMinimum WAM of 65 across all completed subjects.

UOW College: English for Tertiary StudiesCredit (weighted average mark of 65 overall and minimum 50 in Academic Reading and Writing)
Other English qualifications may be considered. Applications may be eligible for credit for prior learning if they have an Honours Bachelor degree in Public Health or a related discipline, a UOW Graduate Certificate in Public Health or Health Promotion, or a Bachelor degree with at least two years of relevant work experience. Credit for prior learning is evaluated based on previous study or work experience related to the chosen subjects.

Session fees are for one session per year. Tuition fees are indicative, based on normal course length and are subject to change annually. Fees will be confirmed at the time of offer. Additional fees may apply for Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC) and the Student Services and Amenities Fee (SSAF).
