The Master of Science in Financial Technology (MSc(FinTech)) is a joint program offered by the School of Business and Management, the School of Engineering, and the School of Science at HKUST. This program equips students with fundamental knowledge and essential skills in financial technology, drawing expertise from areas such as information technology, blockchain, data science, machine learning, and decision analytics. It aims to enhance graduates' competitiveness in the rapidly growing FinTech sector by covering both the engineering and financial principles behind these technologies.
Curriculum
The program requires a minimum of 30 credits. This includes core courses, required courses, and electives. Students must take at least one elective from each of the School of Engineering (SENG), School of Business and Management (SBM), and School of Science (SSCI). Core courses provide foundational knowledge, while electives allow for specialization. Students may transfer a maximum of 6 credits under the regular pathway and up to 14 credits for the Dual Degree 4+1 Pathway.
