The Master of Teaching (Primary) program is designed for university graduates who hold a degree in a non-teaching field and aspire to become primary school teachers (Kindergarten to Year 6). This course aims to equip you with the necessary skills and knowledge to foster learning and make a significant impact on young students' lives. You will develop strong teaching competencies through extensive professional experience, starting early in the program with immersion placements and continuing with weekly blocks. The curriculum covers essential primary school learning areas, including English, mathematics, science and technology, creative arts, personal development, health and physical education, and human society and its environment.

Entry requirements
Undergraduate degreeEquivalent to a three-year Australian bachelor's degree with a minimum average mark of 65%. This must meet the requirements of the NSW Education Standards Authority (NESA) for primary school teaching. NESA requirements need to be assessed by the UOW School of Education before application submission.
IELTS AcademicOverall 7.5 (Reading 7.0, Writing 7.0, Listening 8.0, Speaking 8.0)
TOEFL (Internet-based)Overall 106 (Reading 25, Writing 25, Listening 28, Speaking 27)
English proficiency evidence is required if your degree was not completed in Australia, New Zealand, the United Kingdom, the United States, Canada, or the Republic of Ireland. International students may need to meet additional requirements set by the NSW Education Standards Authority to qualify as teachers in NSW. All students must pass approved literacy and numeracy tests before commencing Professional Experience. A Working with Children Check is also mandatory.
