Baldwin Wallace University's Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling (CMHC) is an intensive, full-time program designed to be completed in just 24 months. Curriculum
The CMHC program is a 60-credit-hour curriculum delivered primarily in-person on BW’s campus 1.5 days per week. Learning methods include small group discussions, activities, classroom role-plays, working with clients, clinical examples, case studies, and lectures. Students must also pass the Counselor Education Comprehensive Examination (CECE) during their Internship I to graduate.

Provide Official University TranscriptsArrange for official transcripts from all universities where you have completed undergraduate and/or graduate coursework to be sent directly to the BW Office of Admission. If you are still completing your bachelor's degree, submit your most recent transcript; a final transcript with degree completion will be required before program start. 3. Submit Three Professional RecommendationsProvide three professional recommendations through the recommendation page within the online application. These should come from individuals familiar with your academic achievements, professional goals, and potential for growth in a graduate program, such as professors, academic advisors, or employment supervisors. Recommendations from immediate family, spouses, partners, or close friends are not accepted.
4. Write a Statement of PurposeSubmit an essay/statement of purpose, between 500-750 words, addressing the prompt: 'Why do you want to become a clinical mental health counselor?' This statement can be uploaded as a PDF or Word document within the online application or sent separately to graduate@bw.edu.
5. Participate in an Interview (by invitation)After a successful review of your submitted application materials, qualified candidates will receive an invitation to interview with members of the admission committee. An interview invitation does not guarantee admission.
6. Complete Background Checks (upon admission)All admitted students are required to complete both civilian and federal background checks through the Bureau of Criminal Identification & Investigation (BCI&I). Forms and details will be provided to eligible students.
