The Medical Laboratory Technology (MLT) program is a branch of medical science that uses chemistry, physics, and biology to aid in the diagnosis, treatment, and monitoring of diseases. Medical Lab Technicians perform a variety of laboratory tests, which are crucial as an estimated 75 percent of all medical diagnoses rely on laboratory results. This program prepares students for a career in a dynamic and essential healthcare field.
Curriculum
The MLT program is designed as a two-year course of study. The first year focuses on prerequisite courses, many of which can be completed online. The second year involves on-campus classroom and laboratory work, followed by a semester of clinical rotations at local hospitals and clinics.

Entry requirements

Course CompletionAll courses required for the MLT Program must be completed with a 'C' or better for continuation or completion.
Applicants must successfully pass a criminal background check and a drug screen for placement and participation in clinical activities. Students must also meet the 'Essential Functions' criteria for admission and for performing in classroom and laboratory settings, with or without reasonable accommodations. Accommodations may not be guaranteed in clinical facilities.

How to apply
1. Enroll in Prerequisite CourseYou must be enrolled in MLT 2002 - Intro. To Medical Lab Technology during the spring semester in which you plan to apply.
2. Submit ApplicationApplications are accepted from January 15 through April 15 for a Summer I start. Download and complete the MLT Application form.
3. Criminal Background Check and Drug ScreenSuccessfully pass a criminal background check and a drug screen to be eligible for clinical activities.
