The MFA Fine Art program at Goldsmiths aims to strengthen emerging artists' motivation, self-reflection, and ambition through intensive critical scrutiny of art-making. It emphasizes student-centered learning in studio critiques and personal tutorials, with tuition guided by the student's practice, concerns, and ideas. The program fosters communication across a diverse international cohort and a wide range of media, encouraging artists to understand how their work is perceived within different social, artistic, and intellectual contexts. Students will continually engage with the contemporary practice of art, its historical complexities, and its role in wider social and cultural processes, with a focus on challenging prevailing expectations. The curriculum is not divided by media; students explore painting, sculpture, printmaking, installation, performance, socially engaged practice, art writing, textiles, digital media, sound, and video as needed by their individual practices. This program has been recognized as one of the most influential MFA programs globally.
Curriculum
The MFA program is structured in two parts, focusing on establishing core concerns and ambitions in Year One, and addressing these with an awareness of their context in Year Two. The program can be studied full-time over two years or part-time over four years (or a combined 3-year option). Students who have completed 120 credits of related postgraduate study may be eligible for direct entry into Year Two. An exit point at the end of Year One allows for graduation with a Postgraduate Diploma in Fine Art.

Entry requirements
