This research project focuses on understanding the molecular mechanisms behind cellular senescence and kidney fibrosis in chronic kidney disease (CKD). CKD is a growing global health issue with no effective current treatments, characterized by the accumulation of fibrous tissue in the kidneys, leading to loss of function. Cellular senescence is increasingly implicated in the progression of kidney fibrosis. This study will use animal models and in vitro experiments to investigate how cellular senescence is induced and how it contributes to kidney fibrosis, with a particular emphasis on the cellular processes and characteristics within the kidney's tubulointerstitial cells. By gaining a deeper understanding of these disease pathways, the research aims to identify key molecules and pathways that could lead to the development of new therapeutic strategies for CKD.
