The University of Derby offers opportunities to pursue research leading to an MPhil or PhD degree. You can choose to work on a predefined research project, either fully-funded or self-funded, or design your own research project. It is also possible to apply for a PhD by Published Works if you have an existing body of research. The university aims to provide the necessary supervision and facilities to support your research journey.
Entry requirements
UK Honours DegreeA First or Upper-Second (2:1) honours degree, and preferably a master's degree from a UK university.
International QualificationsEquivalent international qualifications may be considered.
Relevant ExperienceQualifications and relevant experience that are considered equivalent to a UK honours degree.
IELTSMinimum overall 7.0, with 7.0 in Writing and a minimum of 6.5 in Reading, Speaking, and Listening.
English language certificates are valid for two years. Applicants from predominantly English-speaking countries (as defined by UKVI) or holding citizenship of such countries may not need to provide an IELTS certificate.
Fees
Tuition (international)For international students, a deposit of £8,000 (as of academic year 24/25) is required before enrolment, which is deducted from tuition fees. Alternatively, a sponsor letter can be provided.
