This Master of Science (MSc) program provides a comprehensive understanding of cutting-edge artificial intelligence (AI) techniques and equips you with the practical skills to implement data analytics using AI. The rapid growth of data across fields like biomedicine and climate change makes AI's role in driving positive change increasingly vital. The course offers a strong foundation in statistical, computational, and data analysis skills, exploring the exciting intersection of AI and data science. You will learn the mathematical underpinnings of statistics, data mining, and machine learning, applying these concepts to real-world data. The program also covers computational techniques for analyzing large datasets and utilizes Natural Language Processing and Deep Learning methods. Taught by experts from the School of Computing and the School of Creative Management, you will gain interdisciplinary knowledge in computer science, mathematics, economics, finance, business, and marketing. Industry links and guest speakers provide insights into the data science sector, and you will work with industry-standard software like Apache, Hadoop, R, and Spark on projects involving biomedical, financial, and social media data. The program requires you to complete compulsory modules and choose three optional modules (totaling 45 credits). Optional modules are offered across the School of Computing and the School of Creative Management and change annually.
While prior programming experience is not assumed, a strong mathematical aptitude is essential. Goldsmiths accepts a wide range of international qualifications.
