Occupational Therapy BSc (Hons)

This Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Occupational Therapy program aims to equip you with the skills and knowledge to help individuals overcome daily challenges and improve their quality of life. You will gain an understanding of how people engage in occupations and how to support them to achieve their goals. The course fosters a global perspective by bringing together students from diverse backgrounds, promoting a collaborative learning environment. A supervised practice placement is integrated into each year of study, allowing you to apply theoretical knowledge in professional settings and gain practical experience. The degree is approved by the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) and accredited by the Royal College of Occupational Therapists (RCOT), ensuring you gain the necessary qualifications to register and practice as an occupational therapist in the UK.

Curriculum

The curriculum is structured over three years, with a focus on integrating theory with practical application. Learning methods include problem-based learning, simulation, case studies, and collaborative activities. You will engage in lectures, seminars, workshops, and tutorials, with significant time dedicated to self-directed study. Some learning is shared with other health and social care students. The majority of modules are taught on campus, with some exceptions for modules delivered concurrently with practice placements, which use a hybrid approach (in-person and online). Assessment methods are varied to support professional development, including reflective journals, essays, case studies, dissertations, and presentations.

   • Exploring innovative occupational therapy that contributes to society.
   • Further developing professional identity for HCPC registered practitioners.
