
The Industrial and Systems Engineering (ISE) PhD program at King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals (KFUPM) aims to develop future academic leaders who are independent, creative, and innovative. The program has been graduating students since 1995. It seeks to prepare graduates who can perform critical literature reviews, present in-depth knowledge, formulate research proposals, disseminate findings, and understand ethical research practices.
TOEFL scores must be sent directly to the College of Graduate Studies (KFUPM code: 0868). Proficiency in English is waived for KFUPM graduates and graduates from English-speaking countries (USA, Canada, UK, Australia, New Zealand).
Scholarship for Direct PhD is for the first four years. International students receive air tickets to and from KFUPM as part of the scholarship.
International PhD students receive a full scholarship, which means tuition fees are waived. For self-sponsored international students not on scholarship, fees include registration, and a per credit hour charge.
The scholarship for PhD students covers tuition fees, provides free on-campus housing, subsidized meals, a stipend, and air tickets to and from KFUPM. It is available for the first four years of study for Direct PhD students.
For Direct PhD admission, a Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Math from a top university with a GPA equivalent to 3.75/4 is required. Graduates with a Master's degree in ISE or related fields from a recognized institution are also eligible.
Accepted English proficiency scores include TOEFL PBT 550, TOEFL CBT 213, TOEFL iBT 80, IELTS 6.5, or Duolingo 120. TOEFL scores must be sent directly to KFUPM.
