The Open University of the Netherlands (Open Universiteit) offers opportunities to pursue doctoral research (promoveren). You can conduct this research either as an employee of the university (internal PhD candidate) or as an external candidate while employed elsewhere or independently (external PhD candidate or 'buitenpromovendus'). The research must align with the university's research programs and the expertise of a supervisor within the Open Universiteit. All doctoral candidates become members of the Open Universiteit Graduate School (OUGS), which provides training, workshops, and events to support their research journey.
The research topic must align with the research programs of the Open Universiteit and/or the expertise area of a supervisor employed by the Open Universiteit.
