This Bachelor of Humanities program offers a deep dive into the languages and cultures of the Nordic region. You will gain expertise in Scandinavian languages, literature, history, and society, with the option to specialize in Finnish. The program emphasizes interdisciplinary and flexible learning, allowing you to tailor nearly half of your studies to your specific interests. You'll develop a comprehensive understanding of the Nordic world, from its historical roots to its contemporary issues, and achieve fluency in Finnish to a B2/C1 level.

High school/secondary educationSuccessful completion of high school or equivalent. For non-EU/EFTA applicants, the gap since completing secondary education should not exceed five years. An invitation for a motivational interview will be sent if your qualification meets the requirements.

English language proficiency is required unless English is your first language or you hold a university degree taught in English. Applicants from Bangladesh, Nepal, and Pakistan must also submit an OMPT-C certificate with a minimum passing grade of 55%.

Specific tuition fee amounts are not provided on the program page. Payment is due within 15 calendar days of receiving an offer for non-state-funded places for EU/EFTA citizens and other foreign nationals.
How to apply
1. Choose Your Programme(s)Select up to three study programmes that align with your interests and career goals. Note that you can only be admitted to one programme.
2. Check Application DatesFor international applicants, the application period opens for non-EU/EFTA countries on May 1st and for EU/EFTA citizens (and eligible non-EU/EFTA) on July 1st. The academic year begins September 1st.
3. Prepare Documents and Check EligibilityVerify that you meet the general, programme-specific, and language proficiency requirements. Ensure your secondary education qualification was obtained within the last 5 years if you are a non-EU/EFTA applicant. Documents must be in English or Lithuanian, or officially translated and verified.
4. Submit Application and Pay FeeComplete the online application at apply.vu.lt. Pay the 100 EUR application fee via Flywire. All required documents must be submitted by the deadline.
5. Attend Motivational InterviewCandidates who meet the initial criteria will be invited for a motivational interview to discuss your reasons for choosing the program.
6. Confirm Acceptance and Pay Tuition FeeYou will receive an offer of study. Confirm your acceptance within 7 working days. If admitted to a non-state-funded place, pay the annual tuition fee within 15 calendar days of the offer.
7. Arrange Arrival and Visa/PermitOnce the tuition fee is paid and you receive a final acceptance letter, arrange your visa or temporary residence permit. Information regarding accommodation applications will also be provided.
