Peking University offers a Semester-long Chinese Language Studies Program for international students passionate about Chinese language and culture. This program allows you to study Chinese at the School of Chinese as a Second Language as a full-time visiting student. Instruction is available across elementary, intermediate, and advanced levels, with small class sizes of approximately fifteen students. Classes are held Monday to Friday, four academic hours per day, totaling twenty hours per week. In addition to classroom studies, the program includes a variety of extracurricular activities designed to help you experience Chinese culture and gain a deeper understanding of China. Upon successful completion, students receive a program certificate and an official transcript. While the program typically lasts one semester, students have the option to extend their studies for up to a maximum of four semesters.
Curriculum

LivingEstimated living costs are not provided; however, a teaching materials fee of 150-300 RMB per semester is required. All international students must purchase the Comprehensive Insurance Plan of Foreign Students upon registration.
The application fee of 400 RMB is non-refundable. Tuition and fees must be paid in RMB. Other currencies or traveler's checks are not accepted. Medical insurance is mandatory, and students without valid insurance will not be allowed to register.
How to apply
1. Step 1: Online RegistrationVisit http://www.studyatpku.com. Register your details and choose “Non-degree program” > “General Visiting Students Program” > “GVS3”. Fill in the application form, selecting “School of Chinese as a Second Language” for your study plan. Submit the form online and then download it in PDF format.
2. Step 2: Pay Application FeePay the non-refundable application fee of 400 RMB. This can be done in cash, by Yinlian bank card on spot, or through online payment. Other currencies are not accepted. Your application will not be considered without this fee.
3. Step 3: Submit Hardcopy Application MaterialsSend the hardcopies of all required documents to the PKU International Students Division by post or express delivery. Applications with incomplete hardcopies will not be processed. Your application documents will not be returned.
