Peking University offers a Semester-long Chinese Language Studies Program for international students passionate about Chinese language and culture. This program allows you to study Chinese at the School of Chinese as a Second Language as a full-time visiting student. Instruction is available across elementary, intermediate, and advanced levels, with small class sizes of approximately fifteen students. Classes are held Monday to Friday, four academic hours per day, totaling twenty hours per week. In addition to classroom studies, the program includes a variety of extracurricular activities designed to help you experience Chinese culture and gain a deeper understanding of China. Upon successful completion, students receive a program certificate and an official transcript. While the program typically lasts one semester, students have the option to extend their studies for up to a maximum of four semesters.
The program offers comprehensive Chinese language instruction across three levels: elementary, intermediate, and advanced. The application fee of 400 RMB is non-refundable. Tuition and fees must be paid in RMB. Other currencies or traveler's checks are not accepted. Medical insurance is mandatory, and students without valid insurance will not be allowed to register.
Applicants must be non-Chinese citizens, aged between 18 and 45, in good health, and have completed at least one year of undergraduate study. No prior Chinese proficiency is required.
Tuition is 18,000 RMB per semester. An application fee of 400 RMB is also required and is non-refundable. Teaching materials cost an additional 150-300 RMB per semester.
