Some aspects of British interest in Egypt in the late 18th century (1775-1798)

This PhD research explores the multifaceted British interest in Egypt during the period of 1775 to 1798. While not exhaustive, the study highlights the interconnectedness of British engagement with Egypt, examining various facets such as the influence of the Levant Company, antiquarian research, and perceptions of Arab life and literature. It also delves into the impressions of British travelers, political and commercial interests, the significance of Egypt in the context of trade routes to India, and international competition for commerce via Egypt.
