This program focuses on how sport and exercise can be used to enhance people's health and quality of life. You will explore how to adapt physical activity for various health conditions and understand the role of nutrition in wellbeing. The curriculum is designed in consultation with healthcare leaders to address contemporary societal health challenges, with teaching informed by the research expertise of faculty. Practical work placements with local healthcare and community organizations provide students with valuable hands-on experience, preparing them for careers in the healthcare and fitness industries.
The course structure focuses on physical activity, sport, nutrition, and health promotion. Teaching involves lectures, seminars, and practical work, utilizing a virtual learning environment. Assessments include essays, reports, presentations, and reflective learning. Contact time is approximately 10 hours per week, with an estimated annual workload of 1,200 hours. Teaching typically occurs Monday to Friday, 9 am to 6 pm.
