Transformative Learning at the University of Central Oklahoma

Transformative Learning at the University of Central Oklahoma (UCO) is a pedagogical approach that emphasizes student-centered, active, and reflective learning experiences. It is designed to help students develop beyond their academic disciplines, fostering growth in their understanding of themselves, others, their communities, and the wider environment. At UCO, this philosophy is integrated across the curriculum through the "Central Six" core areas. Curriculum

UCO's curriculum is structured around the "Central Six" core areas of Transformative Learning. Students gain 'Discipline Knowledge' through their chosen major and minor fields of study. Their growth in the other five areas is measured and recorded via the Student Transformative Learning Record (STLR).
