The University Studies Access Diploma (DAEU) is a national qualification designed for individuals who have left school before completing their baccalaureate. This diploma is equivalent to the baccalaureate and opens doors to higher education, specialized schools, and civil service competitions. It is also valuable for enhancing general knowledge and improving employment prospects.

Careers
Upon successful completion of the DAEU, you will possess a qualification equivalent to the baccalaureate (Level 4 diploma). This opens up several pathways:

- Admission to specialized schools (business, engineering, paramedical, social, art and architecture, police, army)
- Eligibility for civil service administrative competitions

Previous schoolingMust have stopped school for at least 2 years.
Age and Work ExperienceBe at least 20 years old on October 1 of the diploma year, with two years of full-time or part-time activity (employment, registered unemployment, parental leave, high-level sports, etc.). OR be at least 24 years old on October 1 of the diploma year.
Foreign students require a visa or residence permit valid on October 31 of the diploma year. Registration for DAEU does not grant student status for visa or residence permit applications. Individuals with disabilities may request an exemption. Those aged 16-25 without a diploma or qualification can explore the 'right to return to training' through local missions or CIOs.

The registration and training fees for the DAEU vary by university. Financial aid options include support from France Travail, CPF (Personal Training Account) for in-person learning (not distance learning with CNED), company Skills Operators (OPCO), employers, or Local Missions for those under 25 without professional activity. CROUS grants are not applicable.
How to apply
1. Check EligibilityEnsure you meet the age and schooling requirements. Foreign students need a valid visa or residence permit.
2. Choose Your OptionSelect DAEU Option A (literary, legal) or Option B (scientific) based on your future study or career goals.
3. Select Learning FormatDecide between daytime or evening classes, and face-to-face or distance learning (via CNED or DAEU Sonate).
4. Consult ProfessionalsArrange an appointment with a university advisor or professor before registering to discuss your project, validate subject choices, and explore financing options.
5. Consider Pre-DAEU (Optional)If needed, enroll in a preparatory one-year course (in-person or remote) to strengthen your foundational knowledge and skills.
6. Choose University and RegisterFind a university offering the DAEU (search by region, option, or format). Complete the university's pre-registration form. You can only apply to one university per year.
7. Take Level TestsUndergo level tests in French and languages (Option A) or French and mathematics (Option B) as part of the registration process.
8. Apply for Financial AidInvestigate and apply for relevant financial assistance if needed to cover tuition fees.
9. Validation and DiplomaTake and validate the required subjects. The DAEU can be validated overall or test-by-test over a maximum of 4 consecutive years.
