Economics and Management (EMA)
The Economics and Management (EMA) bachelor's degree program provides students with essential knowledge to understand and operate within key economic areas such as markets, micro and macro dynamics, and economic policy, as well as in management and business administration fields. The curriculum is designed to offer a strong foundation in theoretical knowledge and practical skills, employing methodologies and practices for both quantitative analysis of economic phenomena and understanding qualitative aspects of the economic and business world.
The program equips students with a solid base of management, economic, mathematical-statistical, and legal tools. This allows for the development of independent analytical and judgment capabilities. Specific areas of focus include economic and financial decision-making strategies for enterprises, consumers, financial intermediaries, and regulators; the functioning and dynamics of goods, services, financial, and labor markets; income and wealth distribution; macroeconomic dynamics; monetary and economic policy interventions; institutional and regulatory choices; and management issues for European and international companies. The curriculum also emphasizes computational skills for data analysis using software like R and Gretl.
Through a combination of lectures, exercises, case studies, and interactive activities, the program aims to foster problem-solving and teamwork skills. Seminars, project work, and soft skills workshops further encourage student autonomy in learning and study organization. The program is structured to build foundational knowledge in the first year, enhance quantitative and economic disciplines in the second, and allow for specialization in either economic/quantitative or business areas in the third year.
