NSERC Cybersecurity CREATE Program

NSF REU – Beaufort Lagoon Ecosystems LTER

This Research Experience for Undergraduates (REU) program offers a unique 10-week opportunity to conduct research on Arctic coastal ecosystems. You will investigate the factors controlling the function of these environments and their responses to climate-linked changes. The program involves fieldwork along Alaska's Beaufort Sea coast, as well as time at the Marine Biological Laboratory (MBL) in Woods Hole, MA, and/or the University of Texas Marine Science Institute (UTMSI) in Port Aransas, TX. You will join a multidisciplinary team, gaining broad experience in the Beaufort Lagoon Ecosystems Long Term Ecological Research (BLE-LTER) program and pursuing a focused research project. Participants should be prepared for approximately four weeks of strenuous fieldwork in the Arctic, conducted in two trips, with time spent at research institutions between field excursions. The program includes virtual and in-person cohort activities focused on field safety, professional development, and sharing research findings.

NSF REU – Oceanic Flux Program

This 10-week Research Experience for Undergraduates (REU) program, sponsored by the National Science Foundation, offers students the opportunity to participate in studies of carbon cycle processes within ocean ecosystems. You will work with deep particle flux materials collected from sediment traps in the Sargasso Sea as part of the Oceanic Flux Program (OFP). The project's focus will adapt to your interests and qualifications. Previous undergraduate projects have involved chemical and isotopic analyses of the flux, as well as biological studies using image analysis to understand the seasonality of biogenic components within the flux, such as calcareous microplankton and aggregates.

NSF REU – Plum Island LTER

The National Science Foundation (NSF) Research Experience for Undergraduates (REU) program at Plum Island Long-Term Ecological Research (LTER) offers a unique 10-week research opportunity. Participants will engage in a large-scale, multidisciplinary project investigating the impacts of sea-level rise, climate change, and altered human land use on coastal marshes, estuaries, and watersheds surrounding Plum Island Sound, Massachusetts. This program provides hands-on research experience in various ecological and biogeochemical fields. Students will work closely with experienced mentors to design and execute independent research projects, contributing to a dynamic research environment. The program aims to immerse students in wetland science, fostering interaction with diverse scientists and presenting findings at a symposium.

NSF REU Biological Discovery in Woods Hole

The NSF REU Biological Discovery in Woods Hole Program at the Marine Biological Laboratory (MBL) offers undergraduate students interested in life science careers a unique research opportunity. Guided by faculty with expertise across various biological disciplines, ten highly motivated students will be placed in the laboratory of an MBL research scientist. Participants will engage fully in laboratory exercises and activities, gaining hands-on experience in biological discovery. This program specifically encourages applications from students attending smaller colleges.

Nsyilxcen Language Fluency Certificate/Diploma

The Nsyilxcen Language Fluency Certificate and Diploma programs are designed to build strong communication skills while actively supporting the revitalization and preservation of the Nsyilxcen language and cultural identity. These foundational and innovative programs are open to all learners within Indigenous communities who wish to deepen their understanding and conversational ability in Indigenous languages. The curriculum aligns with community demands for retaining language fluency and meets Indigenous language standards as well as academic requirements. Responding to the Truth and Reconciliation Commission's call for post-secondary institutions to develop Aboriginal language programs, NVIT, as part of the Indigenous Language Fluency Consortium, offers this curriculum. The program emphasizes language fluency, knowledge, and skills relevant to the worldview of Indigenous communities, addressing the critical need for qualified fluent speakers across the country. Graduates of the Nsyilx̌cən Language Fluency program may have the opportunity to transfer into the University of British Columbia Okanagan (UBCO) through an established agreement. The program is delivered in community and can be pursued as a full-time or part-time study.

NTU-PKU Double Master's Programme in Finance

The NTU-PKU Double Master's programme is a unique collaboration between Nanyang Technological University (NTU) in Singapore and Peking University (PKU) in China. This full-time, two-year program is designed for ambitious students aiming to become globally-minded, bilingual professionals with advanced expertise in finance and related fields. Upon completion, graduates will receive an NTU Master of Science in Finance degree and a professional master's degree from PKU. The program is structured in two stages. The first year is spent at NTU, where you will complete the requirements for the MSc Finance program. In the second year, you will move to PKU to fulfill the requirements for one of their specialized master's degrees in Finance, Insurance, Tax, or International Business. A mandatory 3-month internship at PKU is also part of the curriculum.

Nuclear & Particle Physics

This Master's program focuses on Nuclear and Particle Physics, delving into advanced topics within the field. The course is delivered through lectures and tutorials, with a blend of digital and potentially in-person components. Due to current circumstances, much of the teaching will be conducted digitally. The program aims to provide students with a strong theoretical foundation in quantum field theory and its applications. Registration for the course requires direct contact with the lecturer.

Nuclear Engineering

Nuclear Technology

The Nuclear Technology program at Columbia Basin College (CBC) offers Associate in Applied Science (A.A.S.) degrees and one-year certificate options. This STEM-focused program prepares students for careers in nuclear and energy generation facilities. You will gain knowledge in radiation safety, nuclear power plant operations, and nuclear waste management. CBC is one of about 12 Nuclear Uniform Curriculum Programs (NUCP) in the U.S., ensuring its curriculum aligns with industry needs and established standards for training. The program offers three specialized tracks for the A.A.S. degree, each taking 7 quarters (approximately 21 months): Radiation Protection Technician, Non-Licensed Operator, and Instrumentation & Control Technician. The Radiation Protection Technician AAS also prepares students for the Health Physics BAS degree. The Non-Licensed Operator and Instrumentation & Control Technology tracks develop skills applicable to other vital industries like energy generation, process operations, and manufacturing. Additionally, three one-year certificate options (3 quarters each) are available in Radiation Protection Technician, Non-Licensed Operator, and Instrumentation & Control Technician. All AAS degrees require general education courses in Math, English, Social & Behavior Sciences, and Communication, along with specific science courses. Certificate programs require Math and English courses. Students must achieve a minimum grade of 2.0 in major courses to continue enrollment.

Nurse Anesthesia DNP at Rutgers School of Nursing

The Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) in Nurse Anesthesia program at Rutgers School of Nursing is the only doctoral program in New Jersey preparing nurse anesthesiologists at the highest level of practice. This full-time, 36-month program requires completion of 85 credits and 2,800 clinical hours. The program aims to equip students with advanced skills and knowledge to practice as nurse anesthesiologists, contributing to the highest standards of patient care. It is designed for registered nurses seeking to advance their careers into specialized anesthesia practice.

Nurse Anesthesiology DNP

This Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) program prepares registered nurses for advanced practice in nurse anesthesiology. Graduates will possess the knowledge and skills to provide safe and effective anesthesia care and take on leadership roles within healthcare settings. Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetists (CRNAs) play a crucial role in healthcare delivery across the United States, serving as the primary anesthesia providers in many rural hospitals and contributing significantly to anesthesia services in urban areas. This program ensures graduates are eligible to sit for the national certification examination to become a CRNA.

Nurse Educator

NURSE220: Facilitating Hauora in Aotearoa

This paper explores conceptual and applied understandings of Māori and Pacific health and wellbeing, focusing on the application of indigenous health models to nursing practice. It is underpinned by Kawa Whakaruruhau, an indigenous expression of cultural safety. NURSE220 is a 200-level paper, meaning it is typically taken in the second year of a bachelor's degree program. It is taught in Trimester A, delivered in-person at the Hamilton campus. The paper consists of 15 points and is assessed entirely through internal assessment (100%).

Nursing

The Honours Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BScN) program at Brock University is a four-year degree designed to equip you with the knowledge and practical skills for professional nursing. The curriculum emphasizes hands-on experience, including extensive clinical hours across various healthcare settings. You will also train in state-of-the-art Nursing Simulation Labs, using patient simulators that replicate real-life clinical and emergency scenarios in a safe environment. Upon graduation, you will be eligible to write the National Council Licensure Examination for Registered Nurses (NCLEX-RN exam). This program is offered through the Faculty of Applied Health Sciences and prepares you to navigate the complexities of a continually evolving healthcare system. For those who already hold a four-year Bachelor's degree, a Concurrent Bachelor/Master of Nursing program is also available.
