Environment and Sustainable Tourism (MSc)
This Master's specialization in Environment and Sustainable Tourism, offered as part of the "Tourism and Local Development" Interdepartmental Postgraduate Program, addresses the critical need for a new type of human interaction with natural rhythms and ecosystems. The program recognizes that current economic development models, with their rapid and global environmental transformations, are unsustainable and self-defeating. It aims to cultivate a critical understanding of the complex relationship between environment, development, and society, focusing on how sustainability principles can guide tourism development.
The curriculum is designed to equip students with the knowledge, skills, and values necessary to promote sustainable tourism. It emphasizes the role of environmental education in fostering a new environmental culture and responsible citizenship. Graduates will be prepared to critically evaluate contemporary development models, design sustainable tourism projects, and contribute to policies that balance economic activity with the protection of natural and cultural resources.
