This 30-credit program prepares you to apply for the CASAC Trainee (CASAC-T) certificate from the New York State Office of Addiction Services and Supports (OASAS). Substance abuse disorders are a significant public health issue, with millions of Americans affected annually. Despite the high need for treatment, many individuals do not receive care. This program aims to address this gap by training qualified professionals. The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics projects a strong job growth of 17% for substance abuse counselors from 2024-2034, indicating a high demand for skilled professionals in this field. This program is offered online and virtually, allowing for flexible study. It can be completed in as few as two semesters (less than a year) for full-time students. The CASAC Certificate program is open to new students and current Monroe students pursuing associate, bachelor's, or master's degrees. Some previous coursework in approved human services fields may count towards your CASAC requirements.
