Electronic Information Engineering

The Electronic Information Engineering program at Nankai University provides a comprehensive education in the rapidly evolving field of electronic information science and technology. The Zhou Enlai School of Government at Nankai University was established in May 2004. It encompasses several departments and institutes, including Political Science, International Relations, Administrative Management, Sociology, Social Work and Social Policy, Social Psychology, and the MPA/MSW/MAP Center. The school offers a broad academic scope, covering four first-level disciplines: Political Science, Sociology, Public Management, and Psychology. Within these, there are 18 academic master's majors and 11 doctoral majors, along with multiple degree-conferring spots at both the doctoral and master's levels. Political Theory is a national key discipline, and Sociology is a key discipline in Tianjin.

International Relations

The Department of International Relations at Nankai University has a rich history, tracing its roots back to the Department of Political Science established in 1923. Re-established in 1984, the department began admitting undergraduate students in international politics in 1994, and the Department of International Relations was officially founded in June 2003. It currently comprises three former research offices: international relations, international politics, and diplomatic research. The department boasts a strong faculty of 17 professors, including 4 PhD advisors, 8 associate professors, and 5 assistant professors, all holding PhD degrees and with international experience. Notable academics, past and present, have been associated with the department, and several international figures have held honorary professorships. The department is recognized for its expertise in international theories and methodology, global governance, European Union studies, American foreign policy, and China-US relations, conducting significant national and provincial research projects. Nankai University's International Relations department offers a range of programs, including undergraduate studies in international studies, master's degrees in international politics, international relations, and diplomatic research, and doctoral studies in international relations. The curriculum includes core courses such as Introduction to International Relations, Theories of International Relations, and Contemporary Chinese Foreign Relations. The department emphasizes research methodology and aims to cultivate professionals skilled in independent research, prepared for careers in administration, diplomacy, foreign affairs, international communication, and commerce, with many alumni serving in government, academia, and international organizations.

Master of Public Administration (MPA)

Nankai University offers a Master of Public Administration (MPA) program designed to cultivate applied professionals for government and public sector organizations. The program focuses on developing comprehensive skills in public management and policy analysis, equipping students with both theoretical knowledge and practical abilities. Students will gain a systematic understanding of public management principles, learn to utilize social science research methods and technology for analysis, and develop expertise in policy formulation and implementation. The MPA program offers both single-certificate and double-certificate options. The single-certificate MPA requires completion of 40 credits, including core courses, specialized direction courses, electives, and social practice, culminating in a thesis defense. The double-certificate MPA is a full-time program designed to foster comprehensive talent for public and government organizations. The program emphasizes both academic rigor and practical application, preparing graduates for leadership roles in public service.

Philosophy, Politics, and Economics (PPE)

Nankai University offers a unique Philosophy, Politics, and Economics (PPE) program designed to provide students with an interdisciplinary foundation across these three critical fields. This program aims to cultivate individuals who possess a strong grasp of political, philosophical, and economic theories, coupled with practical skills and robust theoretical thinking. As one of only a few universities in China offering this specialized degree, Nankai's PPE program started admitting students in 2018 and is currently the only institution in Tianjin to offer it.
