Production Economics and Agribusiness Value Chain Specialization

This specialization focuses on the economic specificities of the agricultural sector, including land use, production complementarity, and the inelastic demand for food. It delves into microeconomics of agricultural production, examining investments, dynamic aspects, risk management for farmers, economies of scale, long-term sector evolution, and organizational structures. The program also explores macroeconomic consequences such as land pricing, productivity, and efficiency within the agricultural domain. Furthermore, the curriculum analyzes sectorial policy and its impact on microeconomic decision-making. It provides theoretical and methodological approaches for studying agri-food systems, including quantitative and qualitative analysis. The course covers cooperation and competition within these systems, vertical and horizontal coordination, innovation, technological change, and competitiveness. A specific focus is placed on the dynamics and restructuring processes of agri-food systems in Argentina.
