Higher Degree Research (HDR) - School of Medicine

Western Sydney University offers research opportunities through its Master of Research (MRes), Master of Philosophy (MPhil), and Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) programs at the School of Medicine. The MRes is a two-year research training degree designed to prepare students for PhD study or a research career, involving coursework and a substantial research thesis. The MPhil is a 1-2 year program focused on independent investigation and research skill development. The PhD is a 3-4 year program for advanced, independent research leading to the discovery of new knowledge. Master of Clinical Psychology

This Master of Clinical Psychology program offers advanced education and training designed to develop future clinical psychologists committed to serving community needs. The teaching team's extensive qualifications and experience provide exceptional support, supervision, and training for provisionally registered psychologists. You will gain practical, real-life experience through the university's Psychology Clinics, which also contribute to providing high-quality care to the community. MD Project

The MD Project is a core component of Western Sydney University's 5-year undergraduate entry Doctor of Medicine (MD) program. It offers medical students the chance to conduct an in-depth, hands-on investigation into a health-related topic under the guidance of a supervisor. This project aims to equip students with skills essential for their future careers by providing practical experience. Students will also receive support from the WSU MD Project team and access to online learning resources. Projects can be undertaken individually or collaboratively in small groups on specific aspects of a topic, but each project must address a unique question or aim. Projects are expected to meet the standards of scholarship for a Professional Master's degree and are allocated approximately 9 weeks of dedicated focus time in Year 4, alongside other coursework. Supervisors must arrange ethics approval before research involving humans or animals begins.
