Applying for the Academic Merit Scholarship for Africa is straightforward as no separate scholarship application form is required. Follow these steps:
- Select an Eligible Program — Choose a Vocational Education, Associate Degree, Bachelor’s degree, Graduate Certificate, Graduate Diploma, or Masters by Coursework program at RMIT University (excluding the specified Aviation programs).
- Submit Your Application to RMIT — Complete and submit your application to study at RMIT University through their official application portal. Ensure all required academic documents are provided to demonstrate your eligibility for both your chosen program and the scholarship criteria.
- Receive and Accept Offer — If successful, you will receive an offer letter. To secure the scholarship, you must accept your offer and make the required deposit payment within 14 days from the date of your offer letter.
Eligibility
CitizenshipBe a citizen of a country in Africa.
Visa StatusBe an international student holding a valid student visa or planning to apply for one before program commencement.
Academic AchievementAchieve an Australian equivalent GPA of 2.5 or a 70% average, or an ATAR of 75, in your qualifying qualification at the time of application.
RMIT OfferHold a full or conditional offer letter for a Vocational Education, Associate Degree, Bachelor’s degree, Graduate Certificate, Graduate Diploma, or Masters by Coursework program commencing in 2026 or later.
Current Student StatusNot be an existing RMIT University student (existing ELICOS or Foundation Studies students may qualify and will be notified after Foundation Studies completion).
Exclusions apply to the following programs: AD023 Associate Degree in Aviation (Professional Pilots) and BP345 Bachelor of Aviation (Pilot Training). Applicants should not be receiving any other RMIT-funded scholarship or Australia Awards scholarship covering tuition fees. If you have a packaged offer starting with Foundation Studies from February 2026, you may also be eligible; notification will be sent after your Foundation Studies results are available.
