GuateFuturo-RMIT University Joint Scholarship

The GuateFuturo-RMIT University Joint Scholarship is a collaborative funding initiative designed to support talented Guatemalan students pursuing postgraduate studies at RMIT University in Australia. This scholarship aims to reduce the financial burden for students undertaking Master by Coursework, Master by Research, or PhD programs across various disciplines. The scholarship is jointly funded by RMIT University and Fundación GuateFuturo. It provides a combination of tuition fee reductions or full tuition coverage for PhD and Master by Research students, along with an annual stipend from GuateFuturo to cover other expenses. Successful applicants must first secure an offer from RMIT and then be awarded a scholarship-loan from GuateFuturo to be considered for this joint scholarship. This opportunity is specifically for Guatemalan citizens who plan to enroll full-time as international students within Australia. The scholarship helps talented individuals access world-class education at RMIT, contributing to their academic and professional development.

What's covered

• RMIT UP Academic English Bursary — Provided for Latin American students if ELICOS study is required.
• Tuition fees for Master by Coursework — 20% reduced tuition fee in any discipline.
• Tuition fees for PhD — Full tuition fee scholarship for three eligible students for 3 years (with possible extension to 3.5 years). Includes an additional 1.5 years stipend.
• Tuition fees for Master by Research — Full tuition fee scholarship for two years (no extension). Scholarships are distributed evenly across RMIT's three Colleges.
• GuateFuturo Funding — Up to USD 25,000 per year for a maximum of 2 years to cover remaining tuition fees, Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC), living costs, and other related expenses.

How to apply

The application process involves several steps, starting with securing admission to RMIT and then applying for the GuateFuturo scholarship-loan.

1. Step 1: Choose your RMIT Degree — Identify and select a suitable Master's or PhD program at RMIT University. You can search for courses on the RMIT website.
2. Step 2: Apply to RMIT University — Submit your application for admission to your chosen Master by Coursework, Master by Research, or PhD program at RMIT. Ensure you meet all admission requirements for international students.
3. Step 3: Apply for GuateFuturo Scholarship-Loan — Upon receiving an offer of admission from RMIT, submit an application for the GuateFuturo scholarship-loan scheme through the GuateFuturo official channels. Successful beneficiaries of the GuateFuturo scholarship-loan will then be considered and nominated for the joint scholarship.
