We provide training tailored to meet your specific needs, ensuring preparedness for emergencies.

Health Care Assistant Certificate

The Health Care Assistant program is designed to equip students with the knowledge, skills, and attitudes needed to provide compassionate frontline care. You will learn to support the physical, psychological, cognitive, social, and spiritual well-being of clients and their families under the supervision of healthcare professionals. The program includes theory, laboratory practice, and clinical experience, preparing you for diverse healthcare settings.

Health Care in the School System

This course provides a global perspective on the healthcare needs of students within the K-12 school system. You will explore the essential roles and responsibilities of an Education Assistant in supporting student health. The curriculum covers current healthy schools' initiatives in British Columbia, strategies for assisting students with diverse healthcare requirements, and methods for Education Assistants to manage their own personal health and wellness.

Health Sciences Discovery Pathway

The Health Sciences Discovery Pathway is a tuition-free, one-year preparatory program designed to support aspiring healthcare professionals. It aims to build student confidence, enhance academic readiness, and provide exploration of various healthcare career options before entering competitive health science programs. This program is ideal for individuals who may benefit from additional preparation, including Indigenous learners, adult upgrading students, mature learners, and those new to healthcare who want to explore career paths.

Indigenous Holistic Wellness and Addictions

This program is designed for individuals interested in a career focused on Indigenous Health, Wellness, and Addictions. Developed in partnership with the Hey Way-Noqu’ Healing Circle for Addictions Society (HHCAS), it provides essential skills for Indigenous Holistic Wellness and Addictions Counsellor certification, incorporating specific Indigenous content. The courses are transferable to related fields, making the program valuable for current or aspiring wellness workers, alcohol and drug counsellors, and addiction workers seeking to upgrade their qualifications for certification. It also offers continuing credit hours and professional development opportunities to meet job requirements and post-secondary credit needs. The program is delivered over one academic year at the Burnaby Campus and can also be offered in community settings. Each course involves at least 45 student/instructor contact hours, including assignments and exams. The Certificate requires 33 credits, the Diploma builds upon this with an additional 66 credits (totaling 99), and the Advanced Diploma requires a further 96 credits (totaling 129 over 3 years).

Intermediate/Standard First Aid & CPR

This comprehensive course teaches essential first aid, cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), and automated external defibrillator (AED) skills for adults, children, and infants. It's designed for professionals or anyone looking to gain life-saving knowledge for personal or workplace needs. The curriculum aligns with legislative requirements for workplace first aid training and meets the Canadian Standards Association (CSA) standard Z1210 for Intermediate first aid.

Occupational Health and Safety Certificate

This online certificate program provides a foundational understanding of workplace health and safety. You will learn about relevant legislation, facility safety, risk assessment, and overall workplace health management. The program is designed to equip you with the theoretical knowledge and practical skills needed for a career as a health and safety professional. Graduates are eligible to apply for Canadian Registered Safety Technician (CRST) certification.

Primary Care Paramedic

This immersive certificate program is designed for individuals aspiring to build a career in pre-hospital emergency care. You will gain essential skills under the guidance of experienced professionals, becoming a vital part of a healthcare team. The curriculum covers comprehensive patient evaluation, interpretation of diagnostic tools, critical interventions, and proficiency in Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Life Support (ALS), and International Trauma Life Support (ITLS). Through state-of-the-art simulation labs and practical experience in hospital, urgent care, and ambulance settings, you will develop the competencies needed for effective emergency response.
