The Advanced Practices in Second Language Teaching Certificate program at the University of Minnesota is intended for educators who teach foreign languages or English as a second/foreign language. It is a collaborative effort between the Department of Curriculum and Instruction and the Center for Advanced Research on Language Acquisition (CARLA) Summer Institute Program. This certificate can be pursued on its own or as part of a Master of Education (MEd) degree in second language education. While the certificate does not lead to formal teaching licensure or state certification, it enhances the academic and professional development of both pre-service and in-service teachers. It acknowledges preparation in advanced language teaching methodologies through participation in recognized summer institutes and coursework within the Second Language Education program.
This program has been discontinued and is no longer accepting applicants.
