
The Biotechnology for the Bioeconomy (BforB) Master's program focuses on equipping students with advanced knowledge of microbial and plant systems for applications in the bioeconomy. Graduates will be qualified as biotechnologists for the bioeconomy, capable of coordinating and managing research and development in public and private sectors, including chemical, agri-food, and biotechnology industries. Their roles involve conducting and coordinating research projects, developing bioprocesses, and performing quality control. Specific skills include conducting research for sustainability and innovation in agricultural biotechnology, designing and monitoring fermentation processes, developing new bio-based products (e.g., biomaterials, bioenergy) from waste biomass, selecting and developing plant and microbial cell factories, and applying bioremediation techniques. Graduates will also be skilled in green chemistry processes and developing diagnostic techniques for agri-food supply chains.
Proficiency in English at level B2 or higher is required, ascertained by the University Language Centre (SLAM) via a valid language certificate (issued no more than three years prior to the application date) or other methods determined by the university.
