This course provides a foundational understanding of economics, exploring how market forces influence social welfare. The course covers core microeconomic and macroeconomic concepts. Microeconomics focuses on consumer and firm behavior, market structures, efficiency, regulation, and welfare. Macroeconomics introduces topics such as economic output, unemployment, inflation, exchange rates, and the effects of fiscal and monetary policies.
This course is offered as a single course and is part of several BSc programs, including Data Science and Management, and Design of Sustainable Energy Systems. It can also be taken as an elective for specific B Eng programs.
