This lab provides hands-on experience with authentication and access control in distributed systems, specifically using the Kerberos authentication protocol to build an access control mechanism. You will work with a Java-based Kerberos system that includes components like a Key Distribution Center (KDC), Kerberos Clients, and Application Servers. The lab focuses on configuring and running this distributed system, then selecting and implementing an access control model that distinguishes between different user principals. The goal is to demonstrate the system's ability to grant access to some users while denying it to others based on defined policies.

Exchange students must be nominated by their home institution before applying. DTU does not accept 'free movers' (students not applying within an exchange agreement).
Tuition fees are subject to revision for the Autumn 2026 intake. Non-EU/EEA citizens are considered paying students.
To be eligible, you must be nominated by your home university as an exchange student. You should be enrolled in a degree program at a university with a bilateral exchange agreement with DTU, and typically have completed at least your first year or first two years of university studies, depending on the agreement type.
Tuition fees are 7500 EUR per semester for non-EU/EEA citizens. The total tuition for two years of MSc studies is 30000 EUR. EU/EEA citizens do not pay tuition fees. Fees are subject to revision for the Autumn 2026 intake.
Lab work takes place on Wednesdays: October 29, November 5, and November 12. The report hand-in deadline is Monday, November 17, by 15:00.
First, check with your home university's international office for eligibility and exchange agreements with DTU. Your home university must then nominate you. After nomination, submit your application materials to DTU, and await their final admission decision.
