The Master of Commerce in Economics is a 12-month program designed to provide students with the advanced theoretical and technical skills needed to excel as professional economists. It combines core coursework with a research component, focusing on both theoretical and empirical applications relevant to public and private sector roles. The curriculum aims to equip graduates with practical knowledge and analytical capabilities.
The program consists of compulsory courses in the first semester, followed by elective courses and a compulsory research paper in the second semester. All coursework totals 240 credits. A minor dissertation is a significant component of the degree.
Applicants may be required to undertake a Graduate Record Examination (GRE) test. Exemptions from specific courses (not credits) may be granted for equivalent Master-level studies. Acceptance is at the discretion of the Graduate Committee.
