The Theatre and Performance Studies program at the University of Toronto Scarborough offers an Honours Bachelor of Arts (HBA) degree. This program provides a comprehensive exploration of theatre history and contemporary performance practices. You will gain hands-on experience in theatre production, with opportunities to develop skills as a performer, director, designer, and technician within U of T Scarborough’s Leigha Lee Brown Theatre. The program encourages immersion in Toronto's dynamic theatre scene through field trips and collaborations with professional artists. Students can choose to specialize in a Major, where nearly half of their degree credits will be in Theatre and Performance, or a Minor, dedicating about a quarter of their credits to the subject. The curriculum is designed to build a strong foundation, with first-year courses like "Introduction to Theatre" and "Introduction to Performance" focusing on both the theoretical and practical aspects of the discipline. This program also offers a unique opportunity to combine your HBA with a Master of Teaching degree in partnership with the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education (OISE), allowing you to complete both degrees in six years. Graduates are well-prepared for careers in various aspects of the theatre industry or for further academic study.
