AI Detection Software Guidance

The University of Texas at Austin provides guidance on the use of AI Detection Software (ADS) for academic purposes. The primary philosophy is to foster academic integrity through effective course and assessment design, rather than solely relying on detection tools. Resources are available to help instructors with proactive assessment design and responsible AI use in teaching and learning. Academic integrity policies, including guidelines for resolving academic misconduct, are available and must be followed by instructors. The university emphasizes that instructors cannot alter grades or prevent students from attending classes or submitting work during an academic misconduct process. Any course concluding before a matter is resolved must have a grade of 'X' submitted.
