Master of Science in Earth & Environmental Sciences

St. Francis Xavier University (StFX) offers a Master of Science (MSc) in Earth & Environmental Sciences. This is a thesis-based program with limited enrolment, typically accepting 1-4 students per year. StFX prides itself on providing graduate students with a highly personalized program within a collegial environment, allowing them to significantly contribute to their supervisor's research. MSc students often mentor undergraduates as teaching assistants and research assistants, gaining valuable experience in publishing research and presenting at conferences. Modern Languages

The Modern Languages Department at St. Francis Xavier University offers the opportunity to learn a second language and immerse yourself in its culture. You can study French, Spanish, German, or Mi'kmaq with dedicated and experienced faculty. The department provides language courses at all levels, supported by a state-of-the-art Multimedia Language Lab. Additionally, students can take content courses that explore the rich cultural contexts where these languages are spoken. Students are encouraged to engage with both local and international communities through various activities. These include Service Learning, Immersion Service-Learning projects, foreign film nights, poetry readings, conferences, research projects, and exchange programs in countries like France, Mexico, Peru, Argentina, and Spain. This program aims to help students discover new perspectives and broaden their horizons.

The department offers undergraduate majors and honours programs in Philosophy, and is a leader in the "Ethics, Politics, and Law" concentration and the first-year "Humanities Colloquium". Political Science

Undergraduate Co-op Program

The Undergraduate Co-op Program at St. Francis Xavier University offers students a unique opportunity to gain substantial, paid, professional work experience alongside their academic studies. This program is designed to bridge the gap between graduation and employment by ensuring students have practical experience, industry connections, and a deeper understanding of their chosen field. Co-op students complete 12 months of full-time work experience across various sectors including business, industry, government, non-profits, and academic research. These work terms, combined with academic credit and professional development, prepare students for successful careers.
