Langara English for Academic Purposes (LEAP)

Laptop Computer Requirement for Engineering Students

Virginia Tech requires all entering Engineering students (except Computer Science majors, who have specific exceptions) to possess a laptop that meets certain minimum specifications. This requirement is in place to ensure students have the necessary tools for their coursework, which often includes specialized software. While most macOS laptops are not supported due to software compatibility issues, Computer Science students may use Macs with additional setup. Purchasing a laptop early is advised due to potential price increases.
