Diploma of Elite Sport Business
La Trobe's Diploma of Elite Sport Business is designed for individuals passionate about sport, aiming to provide them with the necessary business acumen and practical skills to succeed in the sports industry. This program offers a unique learning environment, with a significant portion of study taking place at the Carlton College of Sport campus at Ikon Park, the home of the Carlton Football Club. Students will gain hands-on experience through a mandatory 100-hour placement with the club, working alongside industry professionals, coaches, and elite athletes to build professional networks and gain direct business insights.
The curriculum focuses on key areas such as sport management, media and marketing in sport, and business data analysis. Students will learn strategic planning, organisational structures, and policy development within sports organisations. They will also explore the dynamics of sports media relations and marketing, and how to leverage business data for improved decision-making and performance enhancement.
Upon completion, graduates will be equipped with job-ready skills for entry-level roles in sport administration, with pathways to further study. This diploma serves as a foundation, offering direct entry into La Trobe's business degrees, where students can specialise in areas like sport management, marketing, and digital business. The qualification is recognised under the Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF) at Level 5.
