Music (MMus by Research) - Postgraduate Research

The MMus by Research is a postgraduate research degree focused on undertaking a defined research project that critically evaluates and analyzes a body of knowledge or makes an original contribution to the field of music. For this specific degree, research projects typically involve composition or performance as a core component. Students will be guided by a supervisory committee, meeting regularly with a principal supervisor and having access to other staff with relevant expertise. Research is presented through seminars and colloquia. The final submission includes a textual analysis of up to 15,000 words, alongside a portfolio of compositions (approximately 60 minutes of music) or a public recital of 50-60 minutes' duration. Assessment is completed through a viva voce examination.
