Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering

The Mechanical Engineering graduate program at Stony Brook University aims to equip students with advanced knowledge in fundamental principles and prepare them for careers in research and development, academia, or leadership roles in government agencies. Stony Brook also offers a combined five-year Bachelor of Engineering/Master of Science program. Two new MS specializations are available: Energy Technologies, focusing on hands-on experience and theory in areas like heat pumps, solar thermal, wind turbines, and fuel cells; and Robotics, covering design, analysis, perception, and control of robotic systems with a balance of theory, programming, and hardware experience.

Master of Science in Technological Systems Management

The Master of Science in Technological Systems Management is a focused program designed to equip students with the skills needed to manage the technical operations and process systems of global organizations. The program offers flexibility through its core curriculum and a required specialization in one of several diverse engineering or science fields, including Computer Science, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, or an approved natural science discipline. A new minor in Industrial Engineering is also available. The degree program offers three distinct concentrations: Technology Management, Resilience and Sustainability, and Educational Technology. Students have the option to complete all degree requirements (30 credits) online, providing flexibility for those who cannot attend on campus.
