VRA107E - Rekabentuk Warisan (Heritage Design)
The Heritage Design program at the School of Arts, Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM), focuses on the principles and practices of designing within a heritage context. This program aims to equip students with the knowledge and skills to understand, preserve, and creatively reinterpret heritage assets through design. Students will explore the historical, cultural, and architectural significance of heritage sites and objects, learning how to apply contemporary design methodologies while respecting traditional values and aesthetics.
The curriculum is designed to foster a critical understanding of heritage conservation and adaptive reuse. Through a combination of theoretical studies and practical projects, students will develop their abilities in research, analysis, and design innovation. The program encourages interdisciplinary approaches, allowing students to engage with various aspects of heritage, from material culture to intangible heritage. Graduates will be prepared for careers that involve the sensitive and creative management of cultural heritage through design.
