Pursue advanced legal research with our PhD, MPhil, or MJur programs. These postgraduate degrees offer a flexible pathway for you to deepen your expertise in a chosen area of law. The PhD is a three-year full-time program, the MPhil is a two-year full-time program, and the MJur is a one-year full-time program, all allowing for a September start, though other start dates are possible. You can engage with the program either in person or online.

LLB (Hons) Law

Pre-Master's in Law

The Pre-Master's in Law program at City St George's, University of London International Study Centre is designed to prepare international students for postgraduate law degrees. It is the only UK preparation program fully validated by City St George's, University of London, offering guaranteed progression to various LLM programs at The City Law School. The program is taught at a dedicated learning center in legal London, providing opportunities for practical legal experiences like court visits and mock competitions, helping students develop crucial career skills and enhance employability.

Pre-Master's Pathway Programmes

Our Pre-Master's pathway programmes are designed to prepare you for Master's study in the UK. If you need to develop your academic, English language, or study skills before starting a postgraduate degree, these programmes are for you. Upon successful completion and meeting the university's entry requirements, you will progress directly to your chosen Master's degree at City St George's, University of London. This pathway, combined with your Master's degree, is managed through a single Integrated Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies (iCAS), allowing you to study on one visa for the entire duration.

Shipper Liability for Cargo

This doctoral research investigates the legal principles governing shipper liability for cargo. It specifically examines whether the shipper's actions or intent (fault) are considered, or if liability is imposed strictly regardless of fault. The study aims to clarify the relevance of the shipper's mental state in determining their responsibility for cargo loss or damage. The research posits that despite attempts to distinguish between fault-based and strict liability rules, the practical application often blurs these lines. The thesis argues that the limited use of fault-based rules aligns with the general nature of strict contractual liabilities placed upon shippers.
