Adult Secondary

Adult Secondary (Grade 11 & 12)

This program is designed for students aged 18 and over who wish to earn a BC Adult Dogwood Diploma, certified by the BC Ministry of Education. It requires the completion of fewer courses than the standard Senior Secondary Program, making it a focused path to graduation for adult learners.

Associate Degrees

Columbia College offers two Associate Degrees: Associate of Arts and Associate of Science. These programs are designed to cover the first two years of a four-year bachelor's degree. Upon completion, students can transfer to a university to finish their bachelor's degree. The programs allow for personalization through various concentrations and pathways, requiring students to complete 20 courses across different subject areas, including English, Mathematics/Science, and Social Sciences, Humanities, and Arts.

English as an Additional Language (EAL)

This English as an Additional Language (EAL) program is designed to help you improve your English communication skills for living, working, and pursuing further education in Canada. With a focus on developing essential language abilities in reading, writing, listening, and speaking, the program also includes modules on grammar, numeracy, pronunciation, presentation skills, and computer literacy. Students benefit from small class sizes and available tutoring support, with various specialized modules to enhance specific skills. The program is delivered in a hybrid format, combining online and in-person learning. The EAL program offers several levels, from CLB 5 up to CLB 8. Upon successful completion of CLB 8 in all four skill areas, graduates are eligible to apply for other programs at Columbia College, sometimes without further English assessment. The program may be eligible for funding from the Government of Alberta for full-time or part-time studies.

First Aid/CPR/AED Classes

Columbia College Community Education offers training in Basic First Aid, CPR, and AED for the general public, as well as Basic Life Support (BLS) for professional rescuers and first responders. These courses are designed to equip individuals with the knowledge and skills to respond effectively in emergency situations, whether in the community or the workplace. We provide training tailored to meet your specific needs, ensuring preparedness for emergencies.

High School Graduation with BC Dogwood Diploma (Senior Secondary Grade 11, 12 or Adult Secondary)

High School Program

Columbia College offers a High School Program designed for students over 18 who need to complete secondary education. This program leads to a BC Adult Dogwood Diploma, certified by the BC Ministry of Education, which provides direct entry into Canadian universities. It's also suitable for students who have graduated high school but require specific prerequisite courses for university admission. The program utilizes a trimester system with three intakes per year (January, May, September), allowing for accelerated completion, potentially in as little as two years. Students also benefit from the possibility of receiving transfer standing for previously completed courses.

Intermediate/Standard First Aid & CPR

This comprehensive course teaches essential first aid, cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), and automated external defibrillator (AED) skills for adults, children, and infants. It's designed for professionals or anyone looking to gain life-saving knowledge for personal or workplace needs. The curriculum aligns with legislative requirements for workplace first aid training and meets the Canadian Standards Association (CSA) standard Z1210 for Intermediate first aid.

University Transfer Program

The University Transfer (UT) Program at Columbia College is designed to provide students with a clear pathway to continue their bachelor's degree studies at universities across Canada. This program allows you to complete the first or second year of your university education at Columbia College, gaining valuable academic credits that are recognized by partner institutions. You can then transfer these credits to enter the second or third year of your chosen bachelor's degree program.
