School of Industrial Engineering
The School of Industrial Engineering at Iran University of Science and Technology (IUST) offers programs focused on equipping students with strong aptitudes for designing complex industrial systems. The curriculum emphasizes efficient production of goods and services, covering areas such as programming, cost and economic analysis, project management, quality control, and systems analysis. A key research focus involves applying advanced optimization techniques like robust optimization, geometric programming, and meta-heuristics to industrial engineering problems, with results often published in reputable journals and applied to Iranian industries.
The school also houses a specialized welding center, established with technical assistance from the Islamic Development Bank (IDB). This center aims to enhance quality welding training and research, providing students and industry technicians with skills in welding principles, planning, design, implementation, and management of welding systems. The curriculum covers quality management, welded structure design, welding metallurgy, and welding processes. The center aspires to become an internationally recognized hub for welding science and technology, closely linked with industries such as petroleum, automotive, and shipbuilding.
Students benefit from a well-equipped library with approximately 11,000 books in English and Persian, along with access to online libraries like Elsevier, Science Direct, and Scopus. Numerous industrial engineering software packages are also available for both postgraduate and undergraduate students.
