CCC in Business Specialist

The Business Specialist, Human Resources College Credit Certificate provides students with foundational knowledge and practical skills for entry-level roles in human resources and personnel administration. CCC in Infant/Toddler Specialization

This Certificate of Completion (CCC) program is designed to equip students with the specialized skills needed to work as caregivers for infants and toddlers in early childhood education settings. CCC in Paramedic

The Paramedic program at Northwest Florida State College offers advanced training for aspiring emergency medical providers. As the highest trained pre-hospital emergency care providers, paramedics play a critical role in responding to medical emergencies. It provides three semesters of specialized education beyond the Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) Basic level, preparing graduates to sit for the Florida or National Registry Paramedic board examination. The curriculum for this certificate program also serves as the foundation for the Associate in Science in Emergency Medical Services degree. Students have the option to complete additional general education and elective credits to earn the A.S. degree. Admission to the Paramedic program is selective, requiring applicants to meet specific criteria beyond general college admission.

Correctional Officer Basic Certificate

This Career and Technical Certificate program provides essential training for individuals seeking to become correctional officers in Florida. It covers practical skills and field exercises crucial for officer safety, managing inmate intake and release, supervising diverse populations, defensive tactics, and basic first aid. Upon completion, graduates will have the foundational knowledge and practical experience required to enter the Florida Department of Corrections career field and will be eligible to take the Florida State Officer Certification Exam (SOCE). The program is delivered through practical skills training and field exercises. The Criminal Justice Training Center at Northwest Florida State College is certified by the Florida Department of Law Enforcement, Division of Criminal Justice Standards and Training.

Early Childhood Development Specialization

Early Childhood Education

The Bachelor of Science in Early Childhood Education program at Northwest Florida State College prepares students to work with young children from birth through pre-Kindergarten. Graduates will be equipped to serve as teachers or administrators in high-quality early childhood education settings. These settings include private and public childcare programs, Head Start, military childcare programs, and preschools.

Early Childhood Education – Birth through Four

The Bachelor of Science in Early Childhood Education, Birth through Four program is designed to prepare students for careers working with children aged 0-4 years in various settings. This degree offers a pathway for advancement in the early childhood field. Students who have already earned an Associate of Science in Early Childhood Education at NWF State College can complete the Bachelor's degree by taking an additional 18 hours of General Education classes. Students with an Associate of Arts degree will also need to complete the state-mandated prerequisite courses before entering the upper-division technical coursework for the Bachelor's program. The program consists of 120 credit hours and is a 4-year program.

Early Childhood Education (Associate in Science)

The Early Childhood Education Associate in Science (A.S.) degree at Northwest Florida State College is a two-year program designed for students passionate about working with young children aged 0-4. This program prepares you for various early childhood settings, including private and public childcare programs, Head Start, military childcare, preschools, and pre-kindergarten programs. You will learn to maintain safe environments, plan and implement daily programs, conduct developmental assessments, and communicate effectively with families. Upon completion, you will have earned four college certificates and be well-prepared to transition into a Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education.

Elementary Education (K-6th) - Bachelor of Science

The Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education (K-6th) program at Northwest Florida State College prepares students to teach in elementary school classrooms. This 2+2 degree program is designed for individuals who have already completed an associate degree or at least 60 transferable college credits. Graduates will meet the requirements for K-6 teacher certification in Florida and will also earn the ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages) Endorsement and the Reading Endorsement. Throughout the program, students gain practical experience through mandatory elementary school placements each semester. These include classroom observations, practicum activities, and increasing teaching responsibilities, culminating in a full-time, 15-week student teaching internship. The program can be completed through traditional on-campus classes, hybrid formats combining in-person and online learning, or fully online courses, with traditional classes typically meeting one to two days per week on campus.

Emergency Medical Services - Associate in Science

The Associate in Science in Emergency Medical Services (EMS) program prepares you for a career as a rapid responder in emergency medical situations. This program combines the Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) and Paramedic certificates with general education courses. It is designed to equip you with the necessary technical knowledge and skills for entry-level positions or career advancement in emergency services and related healthcare fields. This degree is suitable for individuals interested in supervision and career growth within the emergency services industry.

Emergency Medical Technician (EMT)

The Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) program prepares students for a career in Emergency Medical Services. Upon successful completion, graduates are eligible to apply for the Florida and National Registry Emergency Medical Technician Basic certification exams. This program focuses on providing essential basic life support and patient transportation skills. To be considered for admission, applicants must be at least 18 years old and possess a high school diploma or GED. Admission to the program is offered on a first-come, first-served basis. Please note that clinical agencies may require background checks, and students with felony convictions might be barred from participating in clinical duties.

Firefighter I/II Certificate

This program prepares students to meet the State of Florida's standards for Firefighter I/II. You will gain fundamental knowledge of fire department operations and be trained in essential duties performed during both emergency and non-emergency situations. The curriculum covers vital areas such as hazardous materials, vehicle extrication, wildland firefighting, rope and ladder techniques, and fire suppression. Upon successful completion of the NWF State College Fire Academy and all graduation requirements, you will be eligible to take the state examination, which includes both written and practical components. This certificate is ideal for individuals interested in challenging careers responding to fires, accidents, medical emergencies, chemical spills, and rescue operations.

Firefighter/Emergency Medical Technician Certificate

This program prepares you for a career in the challenging field of emergency services, including responding to fires, accidents, medical emergencies, and hazardous material incidents. You will gain essential skills in both firefighting and emergency medical treatment. The curriculum combines classroom learning with practical, hands-on training in state-of-the-art facilities, preparing you for entry-level positions in the field.

FLDOE Temporary to Professional Teaching Certificate and Renewal

Northwest Florida State College offers courses designed to help teachers who hold a temporary teaching certificate in Florida transition to a full professional teaching certificate. While the college is not an official Educator Preparation Institute (EPI), the courses provided have been approved by the Florida Department of Education for meeting certification requirements. This program assists individuals in earning the necessary college credits and transferrable courses required for professional certification.

Health Services Management - Associate in Science

The Associate in Science (A.S.) degree in Health Services Management at Northwest Florida State College is designed for individuals who already hold a diploma or certification in a medical-technical field and wish to expand their career options.
