Emerging Media
The Master's degree in Emerging Media is designed for professionals looking to update their skills and knowledge in the rapidly evolving world of new media formats, technologies, and digital cultures. This program explores areas like virtual and augmented reality, mobile communications, and social media. It encourages students to focus on at least one area based on their existing work experience and interests, such as music or media production, arts, communications, marketing, digital learning, or virtual collaboration. The curriculum integrates sustainability, encouraging students to consider the well-being aspects and business opportunities within emerging media.
The studies are conducted in a multidisciplinary manner, combining research with practical work and drawing inspiration from various media, arts, and other disciplines. The program is structured for part-time, blended learning, making it possible to study while working. It includes online learning with three intensive workshop weeks held at the Mediapolis campus, a hub for audiovisual industries in Tampere.
This program aims to equip graduates with the skills to navigate new technologies and application fields, fostering active, self-directed learning supported by personal coaching. It is intended to open new career and business opportunities for media professionals, artists, musicians, and designers, while also expanding their professional networks both in Finland and internationally.
