J.D./M.B.A. Joint Degree Program

The J.D./M.B.A. is a four-year joint degree program designed for students who wish to pursue both a Juris Doctor (J.D.) and a Master of Business Administration (M.B.A.). This program requires completion of 119.5 academic credits, with specific credit distributions for both law and business coursework. Students must maintain a minimum GPA of 3.00/4.00 in the M.B.A. program and meet the J.D. program's GPA requirements. Upon successful completion, students will receive both the J.D. and M.B.A. degrees, along with a Joint Program Certificate. The program offers two focus areas within the law curriculum: Corporate Law or Public Policy, allowing students to tailor their legal studies to specific interests.

Japanese Center Language Courses

Japanese Language Education at Kyoto University

Kyoto University does not offer a dedicated undergraduate program solely for Japanese language studies. For international students wishing to prepare for admission by learning Japanese, it is recommended to utilize language schools or similar institutions. However, the university provides Japanese language education for its international students through the Center for Japanese and Japanese Culture Education, which is part of the Institute for Liberal Arts and Sciences. This includes credited Japanese language courses within the general curriculum and extracurricular Japanese language support programs. The academic year is divided into two semesters: the first semester runs from April to August, and the second semester from October to February. Registration for these courses and programs typically takes place online in March and September.

To earn this concentration, students must complete a minimum of 15 credits, including two credits of experiential learning. A cumulative GPA of 3.0 is required for graduation, with a minimum GPA of 3.25 specifically in trial advocacy and dispute resolution coursework. The concentration is conferred after final degree and concentration audits are completed.

JD/MA in Economics

The University of Kansas offers a joint JD/MA in Economics program designed to integrate legal studies with economic analysis. This program allows students to complete both degrees in three years and one summer session, earning 81 credits in law and 18 credits in economics. The curriculum is structured to provide a deep understanding of how economic principles apply to various legal fields, including regulated industries, environmental law, torts, consumer law, and labor law. Graduates will receive both a Juris Doctor (JD) and a Master of Arts (MA) in Economics concurrently upon successful completion of all program requirements.

JD/MBA Dual Degree

The JD/MBA dual degree program at Northeastern University is a collaborative offering from the School of Law and the D'Amore-McKim School of Business. This four-year, full-time program is designed for students who wish to excel in the increasingly integrated fields of law and business, preparing them to lead in a rapidly changing corporate world driven by technology and data. Students will complete three years of law school and one year of business coursework, with the option to undertake their business studies after either their first or second year of law school. The curriculum allows for course credits to be counted towards both degrees, up to 9 semester hours from law towards the MBA and up to 12 semester hours from the MBA towards the JD, with students advised to work closely with advisors to maximize this overlap. The program offers flexibility in specialization, allowing students to choose two in-demand business concentrations from D'Amore-McKim or to pursue an interdisciplinary MBA x concentration in a relevant field offered in partnership with other Northeastern colleges. A key component of the program includes three semester-long co-op work experiences, arranged through Northeastern Law, providing practical, real-world experience.
