Master's Programme in Chemistry

The Master's Programme in Chemistry at Umeå University offers advanced study in key areas of modern chemistry, preparing you for careers in research, industry, or public authorities. With a focus on proteins, environmental chemicals, and pharmaceutical development, the program allows for specialization in medicinal chemistry, environmental chemistry, or protein chemistry. You will gain in-depth knowledge and develop critical thinking skills to address complex chemical problems, alongside advanced laboratory training and the opportunity to engage with cutting-edge research. The curriculum is designed to equip you with the skills to compile, analyze, critically review, and present scientific information and data. The first year focuses on advanced analytical methodologies, theoretical concepts, and computational tools, while the second year allows for elective courses and culminates in a Master's thesis project closely linked to current research. All teaching is conducted in English.
