A core component of the degree is Professional Experience, which typically takes place in schools within the Illawarra, Shoalhaven, Southern Highlands, and Southern and Liverpool regions. Opportunities for 'out-of-area' (rural NSW) or overseas professional experiences may also be available. Students demonstrating exceptional academic performance in their first three years may be eligible to complete their fourth year at an honours level. The program requires the completion of 192 credit points, including all embedded Professional Experience components and a final teaching performance assessment. Dean's Scholar students must maintain a minimum weighted average mark (WAM) of 80 from Year 2 onwards to remain in the program.
