Fulbright U.S. Open Study/Research Awards

Open only to U.S. citizens who hold a bachelor's degree before the grant start date. Eligible applicants include graduating seniors, recent graduates, master's and doctoral candidates, and early-career professionals. Applicants design their own graduate-level study or research project in one of more than 140 host countries and must meet that country's language and institutional requirements.

Herbert Scoville Jr. Peace Fellowship

Open to applicants who hold a bachelor's or master's degree by the fellowship start date and have demonstrated interest in peace and security issues through coursework, graduate study, independent research, or public-interest activism. Applicants must be U.S. citizens, or non-U.S. citizens already residing in the United States with a valid work visa. Strong written and oral communication skills are required, and preference is given to people without prior public-interest or government experience in Washington, DC.

Chevening Clore Leadership Fellowship

Open to mid-career professionals in the arts and culture sector from eligible countries who hold a degree equivalent to a UK second-class honours (or equivalent professional experience) and have at least five years of work experience. Applicants must commit to returning home after the fellowship; British or dual British citizens and recent His Majesty's Government employees are not eligible. Past UK government award holders may reapply only after a five-year gap with demonstrated career progress.

International Max Planck Research School for Molecules of Life (IMPRS-ML)

Max Planck IMPRS-ML PhD Scholarship (Molecules of Life)

Open to domestic and international applicants who hold an MSc or equivalent (~300 ECTS), an integrated 5-year MSc, or a 4-year BSc Hons (240 ECTS) from the EU, UK, Australia or Canada. A 4-year BSc only from the USA, Asia, Africa or Turkey, and medical degrees (MBBS, MD, Veterinary Medicine), are not eligible. A German-scale grade of 1.0–2.5 and English proficiency (TOEFL iBT 80 or IELTS 6.5) are required.

Open to citizens of any country who earned their first/bachelor's degree within the last ~7 years (or will by the Stanford start) and who apply for and gain admission to a full-time Stanford graduate program. Selection seeks independence of thought, purposeful leadership, and a civic mindset.

University of Toronto, Dalla Lana School of Public Health (with the Mastercard Foundation)

Mastercard Foundation DrPH Scholarships at University of Toronto

Open to citizens of Sub-Saharan African countries who are currently residing there, are graduates of Africa Health Collaborative partner institutions, and have not yet started any doctoral-level study. Applicants must meet the admission requirements of the University of Toronto Doctor of Public Health programme and commit to returning home for at least the final two years of the programme to strengthen public health systems in Africa.

Kaohsiung Medical University (KMU) Scholarship

Open to international students (non-R.O.C. nationality), overseas Chinese students (including Hong Kong and Macao), and Mainland Chinese students via designated procedures, applying for the Spring 2026 intake. Applicants must hold academic qualifications recognised by Taiwan's Ministry of Education (MOE) appropriate to the degree level sought, in the medical and health sciences.

United Nations Development Programme (UNDP)

UNDP Graduate Programme Pool for Recent Graduates

Open to recent graduates who hold a completed Master's degree in a relevant field with no more than 2 years of work experience, or a completed Bachelor's degree in a relevant field with at least 2 and no more than 3 years of relevant paid work experience. Applicants must be fluent in English and able to work effectively in a professional setting, and nationals of a defined list of countries are particularly encouraged to apply. Two streams are offered: a Programme and Policy stream (political science, public administration, international relations, development studies, economics, statistics, data management, environmental science, or related fields) and a Corporate Operations stream (business or public administration, finance, law, procurement or supply-chain management, human resources, economics, data management, or related fields).

Open to Egyptian nationals currently residing in Egypt who hold a bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in a related field, have at least two years of professional experience in the development sector, and meet the admission requirements of the Master of Development Practice (MDP) programme at the Hubert H. Humphrey School of Public Affairs, University of Minnesota. A valid TOEFL (minimum 100 iBT, 22 per section) or IELTS (minimum 7, with 7 per band) score taken within two years is required.

Association of Commonwealth Universities (ACU)

ACU Early Career Conference Grants 2026-2027

This grant supports early career researchers and academics affiliated with an ACU member university, who are within 7 years of starting their academic career (with allowances for career breaks). Applicants must plan to attend and present at a conference in a Commonwealth country outside their country of work, and must not have previously travelled for work outside their region since starting their academic career. They must also not have been a previous recipient of this grant.

For citizens of eligible Commonwealth countries (chiefly low- and middle-income) for master's and PhD study in the UK. Applicants apply through a nominating body in their home country (or selected UK universities/agencies) and must usually be unable to afford UK study without the scholarship.

UK Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO)

Commonwealth Master's Scholarships

For citizens of eligible low- and middle-income Commonwealth countries to pursue a one-year taught master's in the UK, who could not otherwise afford to study there. Applicants apply through an approved nominating body in their home country and via the CSC online system.

Deutsches Museum (Research Institute)

Deutsches Museum Scholar-in-Residence Program

Open to pre-doctoral and post-doctoral researchers of all nationalities who hold at least one university degree (Master's or PhD) and can read German (passive language skills). Projects should draw on the Deutsches Museum's collections and use artefact-oriented approaches. Applicants arrange their own health insurance.

King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals (KFUPM)

King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals (KFUPM) Scholarships

Open to international students of all nationalities applying for Master's, PhD or postdoctorate programs at KFUPM in Dhahran. Master's applicants need a four-year Bachelor's degree with a GPA of at least 3.00 on a 4.00 scale, including 3.00 in the major. PhD applicants need an M.S. following a four-year B.S. with a GPA of at least 3.00 in both. MBA applicants need a four-year Bachelor's with a GPA of at least 3.00, a college calculus course, a computing course and usually a year of work experience. English proficiency is required.

Harvard University - Villa I Tatti, Center for Italian Renaissance Studies

Harvard University I Tatti Fellowships in Italy

Open to postdoctoral scholars and researchers who hold a PhD or equivalent terminal degree by the time of application. Research projects must align with the Italian Renaissance, art history, and cultural-exchange themes supported by Villa I Tatti. Open to international and domestic scholars from all countries; some fellowships target early-career or mid-career researchers depending on the programme.

U.S. Department of State

Fulbright Foreign Student Program

Open to citizens of a country with an active Fulbright programme (~155 countries), generally requiring a bachelor's degree, strong English, and an outstanding academic and leadership record. Eligibility, age limits, and eligible fields are set country-by-country by the local Fulbright Commission or U.S. Embassy.

Alexander von Humboldt Foundation

Georg Forster Research Fellowship

Open to postdoctoral and experienced researchers who are nationals of developing or transition countries (with certain country restrictions) and whose research contributes to sustainable development in their home region. Postdoctoral applicants must have completed a doctorate within the last four years, while experienced researchers must have completed it within the last twelve years. Applicants need a strong publication record and a confirmed host at a German research institution.

Gwangju Institute of Science and Technology (GIST)

GIST International Scholarship

Open to international students of all nationalities applying for an MS, PhD, or integrated MS and PhD programme at the Gwangju Institute of Science and Technology (GIST) in Gwangju, South Korea, for the 2026/2027 academic year. Master's applicants must hold a Bachelor's degree or equivalent, and PhD applicants must hold a Master's degree or equivalent. Required documents include the application form (Form 1), official transcripts and certificates, two letters of recommendation, an English proficiency test result, and a copy of the applicant's passport. Applications are completed online and supporting documents must be attached as specified.

Tsinghua University

Schwarzman Scholars

Open to applicants of any nationality who hold (or will hold) a bachelor's degree by the programme start and are under ~29 years old at the deadline. English proficiency is required; Chinese is not. Selection seeks demonstrated leadership, academic strength, and the potential to bridge China and the world.

Finnish National Agency for Education (EDUFI)

EDUFI Fellowships (Finland Government Scholarship Pool)

For early-stage doctoral students and young researchers of any nationality to spend 3 to 12 months of their doctorate at a Finnish university. A Finnish host professor must invite and supervise the visitor and submits the application; the fellowship funds a research visit, not a full degree.

Umea University - Department of Medical Biochemistry and Biophysics

Umea University Postdoctoral Scholarship in Mitochondrial Research

Open to international and domestic researchers who hold a doctoral degree (PhD) or equivalent in Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Biotechnology, or a related field, obtained within the last 3 years (with exceptions for parental leave or illness). Applicants need proven research experience with first authorship in peer-reviewed publications and strong skills in protein biochemistry and cell or molecular biology.

Government of Japan / International Monetary Fund (IMF)

Japan-IMF Scholarship Program for Asia (JISPA)

For young and mid-career government officials from eligible Asia-Pacific countries — typically from central banks, finance ministries, and economic agencies — to earn a master's in macroeconomics or economic policy at a partner university in Japan. Applicants are expected to return to public service afterward.
